Trinity Safe Schools Collabortive

Led by the Trinity County Office of Education (TCOE), the Trinity Safe Schools Collaborative (TSSC) is a multi-agency action group committed to working together cooperatively to promote a coordinated effort among agencies and staff to improve the safety and welfare of youth.

Collaborative members monitor processes, trends, individual events and systems to modify and/or develop appropriate programs and services  to prevent children from becoming at-risk or in-crisis.  The Collaborative also works to provide interventions for at-risk or in-crisis youth, and youth who are already involved in the juvenile justice system.Group meetings focus on lessons learned and incident reviews to better improve how we respond to serious student behaviors. Through these discussions, the Collaborative developed a “How to respond to student behaviors” process and application for school administrators in conjunction with partner agencies and we review incidents monthly to gauge whether or not the process works and or needs to be updated.

To date, the group has been responsible for:

County-wide Threat Response Protocol to respond to youth in crisis that provides an action path to both local school districts and partner agencies

HOSWC (Handling Our Students With CARE) program, a simple digital notification system that alerts partner agencies of timely student by student need for extra sensitive interactions based on a recommendation by a school district staff member or other trusted source.

Trinity CARES (Coordinated Active Response to Ensure Student Safety) Program which provides a new Juvenile Deputy, and substance abuse education, prevention and intervention services. The goal of CARES is to increase protective factors in the community and target those at-risk youth with high Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) scores.AEGIX / I Love You Guys, a Cloud/Mobile App based mapping and software response protocol system that is in pre-rollout development that will provide common language and response between school districts and first responders in addition to standardized mapping of all school districts.
