About Me:
My journey into education began when I started having children and realized the profound impact schools have on shaping their future. Inspired by my own family, I dedicated myself to building a career in education—one that now spans more than 26 years and includes roles as teacher, assistant principal, curriculum development specialist, K–12 principal/superintendent, chief business official, and Trinity High School principal/associate superintendent. Each position has provided valuable insight into how schools operate and how to best support students and educators. Today, I am honored to serve at the Trinity County Office of Education, where my focus is on instructional improvement, program development, and supporting educational professionals in delivering meaningful opportunities for all students across the county.
My greatest professional passion lies in curriculum and instruction. I view myself as an educational architect, designing systems that strengthen teaching and learning while fostering collaboration among educators, staff, and community partners. Before entering education, I worked as a cement mason, factory worker, and electrician—experiences that instilled in me the value of persistence, craftsmanship, and problem-solving, qualities that continue to guide my leadership.
Academically, I earned both my Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Curriculum Development, and Policy, and my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in science, math, and English from Western Michigan University, along with a Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development (CLAD) certification from UCLA. These educational experiences prepared me to lead with both knowledge and compassion, always guided by equity and excellence.
Outside of my professional role, I am blessed with a wonderful family. My wife, Renée, works in the Trinity Alps Unified School District, and together we enjoy traveling and discovering new experiences. I am the proud father of seven children and grandfather of seven grandsons—my greatest contribution to society. In my free time, I enjoy lifting weights, mountain biking, kayaking, water sports, golfing, outdoor activities, and working with my hands, whether woodworking, building, or tackling home projects.
I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve at the Trinity County Office of Education and remain committed to advancing student success throughout Trinity County.
