The Winter of ëO5
The winter of í05 is becoming a memorable one.  As you surely know, Hoaglin Zenia is being buried by snow.  To some, this is a major pain, but to others it is a joy.
The kids at Hoaglin Zenia School are enjoying the snow to no end.  I can say personally that it is a blast!  We go sledding every day for recess.  Each time we find new ways to defy the laws of gravity.  It is truly amazing how many kids we can get on one sled.  The journey back to the school is the most perilous of all, however.  The hundred-yard walk from the sled hill to the door stretches out for miles.  You canít go two feet without sinking in up to your knees.  The little kids find this especially difficult, for good reason.  The twenty-four inches (professionally measured by me, mere minutes ago) makes walking to the school about as easy as climbing a mountain.  But it is so much fun!  I imagine we are making stories to tell our grandchildren, so many years from now.
To some, however, the snow isnít all fun and games.  The snowplows are working overtime, and many people are snowbound.  Every driveway from Bettís Road to Kettempom has a car parked in it, stationed for a quick get-away.  Getting out to the school bus every day is sketchy, to say the least.  Branches, broken by the weight of the snow, lay everywhere.  And more harsh weather is on the way.
No matter what side you take, snow lover or snow hater, there are memories being made.  Endless sled runs, snowy tracks, fireside nights, or the first kiss of sunrise on sparkling snowscapes- these are the things that will make the winter of í05 one to remember.
