As you all know, Trish Shibler retired from her job of Play and Learn teacher
last fall, at the Hoaglin Zenia School Family Center. As soon as
a 'Job opening' sign was up, Alicia Pecora applied. She was hired
and is carrying on Trish's old job.
Alicia enjoys working with the little kids, and she says that her job
can be hard at times, but it is fun. She says that the kids have
a lot of creative ideas!
The fun projects that they do together are making ABC books (that they
make throughout the year, and take home to show their parents.) They
also make pictures, and they make name tags for themselves so they can
memorize what their name starts with. The little kids also count, and they
have a weather poster. Every day, they put on the poster what the
weather looks like outside.
I'm sure you're wondering how Alicia finds all of her patience.
She says that she feels like she could scream at times, but others times
the little kids can be fun. The little kids need a lot of attention, she
notes.
Alicia grew up outside of Garberville, and is currently living in the
Zenia - Kettenpom area. She enjoys riding horses outside of her job.
Alicia is a GREAT teacher, and she says that she will do this
job as long as there are enough kids at the school, and around here!
