NEXT CLUB MEETING

The next club meeting will be held on October 9th, 7:30 p.m., Trinity County Office of Education conference room. Plans for the annual December Christmas Party-Meeting and other club activities will be discussed .

Our activities chairman WB6FZH Greg always has something to share, either news from the International Space Station, or goodies he keeps at the ready for emergency communications, and even sometimes he brings presents! They are radio-related, or electronic ideas he has cooked up! We were awfully glad to see his smiling face at the Sept. Picnic.

ADDRESS CORRECTION

In the September newsletter the address for KB6EHA Rusty Carpenter was given so that folks could send him a note, as he is now in Afghanistan on duty with the U.S. Army. However, there is a change in his address:

SFC Russell F. Carpenter
OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM
HHC 82D ABN DIV.
D-TAC SHARK
APO AE 09354

Please write him a note if you possibly can, as his mom KD6QBS Vi says things are very depressing for the troops, and Rusty would love to hear from home.

HAVING SAID THAT..........

At the picnic get-together held by the club on September 14th at the Douglas City BLM Campground, it was decided that we would have a message-sending practice as related to working emergency communications, and to make the object for that day Russell Carpenter in Afghanistan. So....., the following club members and one guest wrote messages to Rusty using copies of the message-sending forms and the format for emergency messages! It was a lot of fun! And the messages were bundled into an envelope and mailed to Rusty.

The following participated: N6TKY Jim Harrigan, N6TKX Evelyn Harrigan, W6HOR Bob Buckley, WD6AIA Bob Martin, KD6QBS Vi Carpenter, WB6JZN Ed Carpenter, KF6OAH Vicky Riley, KD6GCQ Terrie McNeil, and a little guest of the Carpenters, Crystal, whom I seem to remember as being eight years old! The practice was great, and we hope Rusty will have a good laugh when he receives them.

KD6RKJ,Tubal Cain, appeared at the picnic, complete with keyboard, and played the lovliest strains of organ music on the keyboard, after displaying his methods for learning the keyboard to our prez, Vicky. Thanks, Tubal!

I don't want to forget - we welcomed back KF6WLL Rick Rapinac who was holding down a job several hundred miles from home until just recently. We are very glad you are back here, Rick, and were at the picnic.
