Next club meeting at the Trinity County Office of Education conference room on August 13th, time 7:30 p.m., and be sure to come prepared to pay membership dues for the coming year, in the amount of $20.00 per family. In the absence of our club treasurer, KI6GR John, at the July picnic, the dues were not collected. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please send your dues to the above-shown address.
That said, you surely missed a good picnic, lots of good food, and a lot of enjoyable "eye-balling".
KB6YTD Robert needs the guys in the club to buy and donate Anderson connectors, 45 amp, 10 gauge wire. These are needed for radio equipment, especially in the ECU, ARES standard. K6UHS Will responded on the weekly net that he has 20 pairs at present.
Let's give a warm welcome to Robert as our new president, and support this effort with connectors.
While we are on the subject of new officers, we appreciate KF6OAH Vicky's work as our prez for the previous two years. She agreed to serve as vice-president this year to be an encouragement to Robert in his first term, which is also greatly appreciated! Vicky needs a bit of rest, probably, the past two years were busy ones.
NT6E Gary signed on from the Anderson amateur radio club to inform us that there will be a HamFest on Saturday, August 9th, at the Anderson River Park, for those of us wishing to participate. The talk-in frequency will be 146.64 mhz and we would suggest you be there before opening time, if you can do so, parking is not too plentiful there, although there is adjacent parking fairly close to the park.
Anderson's club website is www.qsl.net/arca/.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MC NEILS!
......and best wishes for your special day, to KA6ZVR Bob and KD6GCQ Terrie. And many more!
TCARC Members and Guests enjoying the "Potluck" Picnic
KD6QBS Vi and WB6JZN Ed shared pictures of their recent trip to No. Carolina to visit son KB6EHA Rusty and his family. Most of you know that Rusty went to Iraq and had returned just recently, so Vi and Ed, along with Kirsten and Crystal (two very fine little girls they baby-sit), had a lot of fun back there.
AND, the big news on that trip was that Ed had pictures of himself all geared up for .......get ready, SKY-DIVING! He made a jump from a Twin Otter, and had a ball doing so!! How many amateur radio operators do you know that go on a vacation and go sky-diving?? N6TKY and I were impressed, Ed, it is great to know that you did that, and had a great time doing so.
N6NOT Colleen, who was a member of this club for many years, invites you to the Golden Age Center in Weaverville on August 15th, where she will present a "Golden-Aged Humor" skit for your enjoyment! The presentation will be held at the 11:30 a.m. lunch-time, probably around 11:45 for Colleen's part, and then again at the 12:30 p.m. lunch-time, with her part probably around 12:45. If you want to enjoy a good lunch, and a light-hearted presentation by Colleen, be there!!
Other news........WD6AIA Bob tells us that YL Jayne is recovering from recent back surgery. We wish you the best, Jayne, it will be good to see you out and about again.
This is all for now. Be sure to read the attached minutes from the business mtg. at the July picnic.
