This program to be permanent or reliable would require a couple of volunteers. It can be done at low cost, with a couple people underwriting minimal the start-up costs, and the cost is under $2.00 each including the postage(less if they are picked up at meetings, etc). Actual costs involved are the flexible carriers that are used to make business card size nametags, some paper, cardboard, glue, color print cartridge(possibly donated) and are all common stationary items. The graphics are not complicated, and can be produced with a simple computer photo program, printed with home type printer, and glued to a piece of cardboard to give the badge some strength. The namebadge just slides into the carrier. If you are interested, bring it up at a meeting, and if there is sufficient interest, then contact the interim webmaster for further details.
If you are not yet licensed, your first and last name is placed on the badge. When you become licensed, you get another insert with your callsign on the badge. If you change your call a new insert will be provided also.
Wear your badge to meetings, public events, emergency drills or to the grocery store. Make other hams jealous and they will have to join TCARC to get one.
The Badge carrier is a common stationary store item, heavy clear flexible vinyl plastic with a stainless steel clip that does not tear fabric on the back. The corners are rounded and it bends gently making it comfortable to wear.
The TCARC Badge was developed by Greg Greenwood, WB6FZH/KH6 in 1999. Greg designed the badge for the Koolau Amateur Radio Club on Oahu in Hawaii. It is similar as it has a photo of the green volcanic Koolau Mountain Range, with the same layout as the TCARC badges. The prototype photo for the TCARC badge was taken in Weaverville, in March of 2000 by WB6FZH.
Special Purpose Badges can be made for VIP, ARES, Special Projects, Drills if other official badges are not availiable, etc.
