Guidlines for Emergency Packet Operation
Interim Packet Procedure
- MONITOR- 145.050
- Check for Message at wb6fzh-1 MAILBOX 145.050 for EMERGENCY BULLETIN or UNPROTO BEACON MESSAGE.
- BACK-UP PLAN- (MAILBOX DEAD, FREQUENCY TOO CROWDED)
- MONITOR- 144.910, Look for UNPROTO traffic or beacon INFO.
- During an Emergency 144.910 is likely to have less QRM. The digipeated and unproto
Trinity County ARES Emergency Packet Network will likely end up on this frequency. (144.910) if 145.050 is unsuitable..
- Note: WRS is on 145.050 and 144.910 Do you know what it is and how to use it?
READ THIS- NOW!
- IMPORTANT OPEATIONAL NOTE-It is desiriable to be able to monitor your speaker, and be able to switch over to microphne easily from packet mode, especially if you are using the same radio for both!

- The TCARC/ARES SIMPLEX & PACKET FREQUENCY PLAN HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED YET- Testing, maps, member input, topography, etc. are being
assessed. Goal is to have several geographically separated areas of county organized with common and individual voice simplex
frequencies. This will reduce the interference in an emergency for local communications, and relay frequencies for sending information to central
location in emergency. This will be particulary helpful should the Repeater Systems fail or be overloaded. A similar packet network of digipeated and unproto digital messages wiill also be organized. Details Posted Here with MAP when ready.
