Trinity County Ham Radio ARRL "Frequency" Movie Promotion at TCARC

Public Relations: "Frequency" The Movie

WB6FZH

The American Radio Relay League in association with the motion picture producers and distributors of Frequency (The Movie), staring Dennis Quade, as an opportunity to focus local attention on Amateur Radio and local clubs. An integral part of this exciting adventure-crime drama is radio communications through freak solar conditions that create unique propagation that allows "Ham" radio to contactten years into the past through time itself .

3 posters were placed in the TRINITY THEATER lobby, in Weaverville, during the time that the movie Frequency was playing. TCARC is very thankful for this opportunity to showcase Amateur Radio to our local community.

The posters were designed to catch attention and immagination of theater goers using color pictures of Amateur Radio Activities. Some of the actions illustrated were the use of hand-held radios during satellite communications, Slow Scan TV picture from the MIR Space Station, The TCARC Emergency Commuinications Unit, and more.

Tear-off strips at the bottom of each poster contained the Internet URL of the TCARC Website, and a contact telephone number for prospective new members and interested parties. Several of these strips were taken by movie patrons.

The posters were designed, constructed and displayed by Greg Greenwood, WB6FZH, at no cost to TCARC. After the movie had left the area, at the June TCARC meeting the posters were recycled by taking them to new locations; a grocery store "downriver" and to B & T Enterprises, in Weaverville for further public exposure.
