Harry Saxey's Third Grade Reader is very old.
It is dark maroon. It has a fancy design on the binding, front
and back cover. It was used in the China Flat School. Harry Saxey
also wrote words in it like "spring". The book was compiled
by the state of California. It was probably published in 1906.
Harry used the reader book when he attended
the China Flat School. He was Saxey's son and about 10-12 years
old. He was Tsnungwe and was born and lived on the Saxey Ranch
on the South Fork of the Trinity River.
He attended China Flat and Forest schools. Both were located in
Willow Creek. When Harry Saxey was older, he served in the Army
during World War 1. Harry Saxey's family loaned this Reader to
the Willow Creek China Flat Museum.
