EGG CARRIER
by Andy Green

The egg carrier is made of wood and metal. People used it in houses, stores and farms to hold the eggs. The first U.S. patent egg carrier was in made in 1868. It was made by John G. The full name of the egg carrier was Star Egg Carriers with Trays. Some egg carriers, you have to buy the trays separately.

I found nothing saying eggs were kept cold. They were packed in boxes made of wood. The most used was a wooden box divided into squares to hold one egg each. The squares were made out of thin brown pasteboard and packed into layers until the box was full. Another way to pack eggs was to put salt or sawdust in-between the eggs so that they didn't touch and break.

I thought this egg carrier was pretty cool.
