Lewiston, California

Lewiston, located in beautiful Trinity County, is a 3 1/2 hour drive north of Sacramento, 45 minutes west of Redding. A recreational paradise, Lewiston offers salmon and steelhead fishing from the Trinity River and great catches of stocked and native trout and bass from Lewiston Lake and Trinity Lake, the third largest reservoir in the state. Clean air and water, vast forests, and snow capped wilderness provide a refreshing background for backpacking, kayaking, waterskiing, camping, or just going for a stroll. There are no stop lights or parking meters in the entire county.

The Historic District of Old Lewiston includes the restored one room school house known as the “Old Lewiston Schoolhouse”, a white clapboard steeped church, the Old Cemetery, and various shops, all clustered at one end of the oldest one-lane bridge in California. With a population of about 1500, we are accustomed to the simple pleasures of a friendly, rural life.

Some folks like to use an "Old Time" form of transportation.
